Thanks, Marley, for your response. I truly believe most white people don’t have enough context to understand much of what you write. Context as a concept I’ve been studying for the past decade.

To be clear, my healthcare experience wasn’t all bad. My point was I witnessed Black people receiving substandard care and I personally know Black lives deeply affected by covid and their treatment.

This is why I shared my experience and my girlfriend’s tragedy. I also grew up in a racist, abusive environment. However, I wouldn’t trade any of that because I’m able understand and connect with people. I have extreme empathy and, honestly, the older I get, the softer my heart has become.

I have mixed feelings about people in general. People are capable of so much greatness, so I expect better of them. I carry both hope and disappointment simultaneously.

Most white people I know who don’t understand Black anger and rage have zero experience and context. They are barely self aware and less aware of others. If they would only look up and pay attention.
